Selection Process

The selection process for the IDBI Bank Specialist Officer (SO) Recruitment 2026–27 (Advt No. 8/2025-26) is a non-examination-based procedure that focuses on professional experience and personal merit.

Stage 1: Preliminary Screening

The bank first reviews all submitted applications to ensure they meet the basic eligibility criteria (Age, Education, and Experience) as of the cut-off date, March 1, 2026.

Stage 2: Shortlisting

A selection committee shortlists candidates based on their qualifications and the relevance of their work experience. There is no written competitive exam for these specialist roles.

Stage 3: Group Discussion (GD) / Personal Interview (PI)

Shortlisted candidates are called for a face-to-face or virtual interaction:

  • Group Discussion: This may be conducted at the bank’s discretion to assess communication and leadership skills.
  • Personal Interview: This is the most critical stage, carrying 100 marks. Candidates must score at least 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) to qualify.

Stage 4: Merit List

A final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the Personal Interview (and GD, if applicable). If two candidates have the same marks, the one with higher professional qualifications or older age is ranked higher.

Stage 5: Document Verification & Medical Test

Selected candidates must undergo a thorough Document Verification to prove their experience and category claims. Finally, a Pre-Recruitment Medical Test is conducted to ensure the candidate is fit for banking service.

Step 1: Online Registration
