Selection Process

The selection process for the Himachal Pradesh Home Guard recruitment 2026 is a multi-stage system where candidates must qualify in each step to advance. The final merit list is based on written exam scores and additional weightage marks. 

Stage 1: Physical Standard Test (PST)

This is a qualifying stage to verify that candidates meet the mandatory physical measurements. Failure to meet these results in immediate disqualification. 

  • Male (General): Height 5’6″; Chest 31″–32″.
  • Female (General): Height 5’2″.

Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who pass the PST move to this qualifying stage, which tests endurance and agility

  • Events for Men: 1500m run (5:30 min), 100m sprint (14 sec), high jump (135 cm), and long jump (4 m).
  • Events for Women: 800m run (3:50 min), 100m sprint (18 sec), high jump (110 cm), and long jump (3 m).

Note: Candidates get a maximum of three attempts for jumps, while running events allow only one attempt. 

Stage 3: Written Examination (50 Marks)

Qualified candidates from the physical rounds appear for an objective-type test. 

Duration: 1 hour.

Subjects:

  • Hindi & English: 12 marks each.
  • Mathematics: 12 marks (10th standard level).
  • HP General Knowledge: 14 marks. 

Stage 4: Merit Evaluation & Additional Marks 

The final merit list is prepared by combining written exam scores with bonus marks (weightage) for specific achievements: 

  • Weightage Categories: Higher educational qualifications, NCC (A/B/C) certificates, NSS/Bharat Scouts & Guides, sports achievements, and ITI trade skills or driving experience (for specific posts). 

Stage 5: Final Verification & Enrollment 

  • Document Verification: Exhaustive check of original certificates (Bonafide Himachali, category, etc.).
  • Medical Examination: Candidates must be declared medically fit for active duty.
  • Basic Training: Selected candidates must successfully complete 45 days of mandatory basic training before formal enrollment.

Step 1: One-Time Registration (OTR)

  • Qualifications: Upload marks and certificates for 10th and 12th standard.

  • Upload Documents: Scan and upload a recent passport-sized photograph and your signature (usually under 50KB each).

Step 3: Select Post & District
