CRPF Constable Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

The CRPF Constable Recruitment 2026 selection process is a multi-stage journey designed to evaluate physical fitness, academic knowledge, and trade-specific skills. Candidates must qualify in each stage to move to the next. 

Stage 1: Physical Standards Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET) 

These tests are qualifying in nature and mandatory for all candidates except Ex-servicemen, who are generally exempt from PET but must undergo PST for measurements. 

1. PST (Measurements):

  • Height: Male (170 cm) | Female (157 cm).
  • Chest (Male only): 80 cm unexpanded with a minimum 5 cm expansion.

2. PET (Running Events):

  • Drivers & MMV: Male (5 km in 24 mins) | Female (1.6 km in 8.30 mins).
  • Cook/Barber/Safai Karamchari: Male (1.6 km in 10 mins) | Female (1.6 km in 12 mins).
  • Pioneer Wing: Male (1.6 km in 9 mins). 

Stage 2: Computer Based Test (CBT)

This is the primary screening stage where marks are used to prepare the final merit list. 

  • Format: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 100 marks.
  • Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes).
  • Subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning (25), General Knowledge (25), Elementary Mathematics (25), and English/Hindi (25).
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer. 

Stage 3: Trade / Skill Test 

Candidates shortlisted from the CBT must demonstrate practical proficiency in their applied trade.

  • Qualifying Marks: Must score at least 20 out of 50 marks.
  • Tasks: Preparing dishes (Cook), driving heavy vehicles (Driver), or basic wiring (Electrician). 

Stage 4: Document Verification (DV)

Original certificates are scrutinized to confirm eligibility.

  • Key Documents: 10th marksheet, Domicile Certificate, Caste Certificate (if applicable), and valid Driving License (for Drivers). 

Stage 5: Medical Examination (DME/RME) 

A Detailed Medical Examination (DME) ensures candidates meet all health standards. 

  • Vision: Distant vision must be 6/6 and 6/9 without correction; color blindness is a disqualification.
  • General Health: No chronic diseases, flat feet, knock knees, or significant physical deformities.
  • Review Medical (RME): Candidates declared “unfit” can appeal for a review within a set period (usually 15 days).
